The College Park House explores the idea of the house as a habitable gallery. The project involved reworking an existing villa to accommodate the practical demands of a young family and the spatial requirements for the clients’ growing collection of contemporary art.
The design was driven by the concept of the building as a series of simple, neutral envelopes within which design pieces are displayed. In order for lifestyle, furnishings and architecture to comfortably co-exist, a high level of design and detailing rigor was applied by the project team and builders.
The architectural design throughout the project was driven by a desire to express new intervention within an old shell. Throughout the house, new building work appears in contrast to the existing conditions through defined difference in style, materials, detailing and colour.
Nexus Designs were chosen by the owner for selection of furniture, lighting, bathroom fittings and finishes, and general interior consultation. Nexus Designs brought the project a new momentum and excitement, with signature pieces and carefully selected furnishings which complemented the character of each space.
Taylor Cullity Lethlean Landscape Architects executed an award-winning garden which compliments the architecture.
