Esther is an Associate Director and Senior Project Architect at Grieve Gillett Andersen, with specialist expertise in masterplanning and urban design, sports and recreational facilities, community hubs and education projects.

Esther has successfully lead and managed the design and delivery of public and community based projects of varying scale within urban centres and in rural townships nationally and internationally.  Her extensive experience in workshop planning, facilitation and stakeholder engagement enables her to navigate complex stakeholder relationships to deliver projects that are contextual, responsive, generous and one of collective ownership.

She brings open dialogue and high energy to the projects she works on. Her strength lies in listening and interpreting clients’ and stakeholder’s vision and aspirations, and embedding these through every stage of the design. Her proven experience in delivering a wide portfolio of award-winning works demonstrates her agility to deliver high quality outcomes.

Esther studied architecture at the University of East London and University of Adelaide. Her passion for community and place driven buildings has led her to complete a Masters in Development Studies with the University of New South Wales. Esther was awarded the 2017 South Australia Emerging Architect Prize, recognized as one of one of InDaily’s “South Australia’s 40 leaders under 40” and recently awarded the 2018 NAWIC South Australia (National Australian Women in Construction Award)  for Project Innovation and Development.

A mother of two young children, she continues to contribute to the advancement of the profession through studio teaching, and mentoring. She has also undertaken pro-bono work in Central America and more recently in Nepal. She is a member of the SA Property Council’s Future Trends and Innovation Committee, member of the Architects Institute of Architects SA Planning Committee and Vice Chair of East Adelaide Primary School Governing Council.
