karag@ggand.com.au

Kara is a communications, engagement and marketing professional with 10 years experience working in the arts, architecture and public sectors.

Kara was appointed as an Associate in 2018.

Kara leads the development and management of our marketing and communications strategy, publicity, digital marketing, publications, awards and events, as well as working within the team on tenders and submissions.

She is interested in establishing long-term strategic partnerships with organisations, as well as showcasing our expertise as creative problem solvers and designers. In 2017-18, Kara worked within the team to design and construct two temporary architectural installations with the JamFactory for the Drink Dine Design Emerging Design Award.

With a degree in visual arts, Kara began her career as a gallery assistant at JamFactory and exhibited locally as an artist, before moving into the architecture and design industry working for both public and not-for-profit sectors. She is passionate about promoting the value and positive impact that design and design thinking brings to improving our everyday lives.

Kara has produced and worked on several events, exhibitions and installations to promote public awareness and appreciation for the value of architecture and design, including the Festival of Architecture and Design (2014-201515), the South Australian Architecture Awards, Design Conversations series with The Adelaide Review, 5000+ Collaborative City exhibition, Adelaide to Zero Carbon Challenge project and South Australia's Low Carbon Entrepreneur Prize 'Design Week' program.

She has developed successful communication strategies and marketing campaigns that aim to share a deeper understanding and positive brand association with the public and media for organisations, as well as engaged corporate sponsors and media partners for targeted events and programs.

Within the public sector, Kara conducted online consultation and engagement for communities to influence government decision-making, including the whole-of-government YourSAy website and 5000+ An Integrated Design Strategy for Inner Adelaide, and has an understanding in best practice principles of community engagement within the public and private sector.
