Grieve Gillett Architects was engaged to design, document and deliver 2,000m2 of office space over two levels of a central CBD building dating from the early 1970s. The expiry of leases on four Government Ministerial offices required new accommodation for Ministers and staff.

To optimise value for money and programme delivery timeframes office floor fitout works were coordinated with base building upgrade works using a shared contractor.  This required meticulous definition of scope of works for each works contract to manage responsibilities, responsibilities for variations to works and to avoid contractual dispute.

With effectively four separate clients within the single contract, Grieve Gillett Architects conducted separate consultation sessions with each group to meet specific group needs for each workspace. Individual group identity preferences and finishes palettes were subtly varied while a consistent design intent was established across the overall tenancy.

Finishes palettes were kept clean and simple, achieving a series of restrained, elegant interiors embodying durability and the longevity of appeal appropriate for Ministerial Offices.  Government Office Accommodation Committee (GOAC) guidelines were adhered to ensuring compliance and spatial equity across the tenancy and workplace.
