SUCCESS ON THE SPORTING FIELD

Beyond their achievements in the field of architecture and design, GGA team members Adam Sickerdich, Esther Chew and David McLeod each gained individual and team success recently in golf, rowing and marathon running.

Adam competed with the Tea Tree Gully Golf Club at the Volkswagen Scramble Championship Finals (25-27 May) held at Twin Water Golf Club on the Sunshine Coast. His team secured their spot in the 4-day Championship Final after first winning the regional finals and then the state finals at Grange Golf Club with a score of 14 under.

Meanwhile, Esther participated in Adelaide Marathon Festival, completing her first full Marathon on 26th May, and running 42.2kms in just over 5 hours. It was also family affair with Esther’s husband and children participating in the 5km Run, who were joined by her extended family!

This season David has rowed Open Surf Boats and is a patrol member at the Henley Surf Life Saving Club. His crew represented South Australia at the Australian Surf Rowers League races in Cronulla, NSW earlier this year in March. Placing 4th in the competition, the team then went on to win the South Australian Open Men’s State Title for surf boats.

With the Port Adelaide Rowing Club, Dave won the State title for the Masters Coxed four in the still water Masters Rowing Championship. To cap off his long list of achievements so far this year, at the Australian Masters Rowing National Titles in Perth (22-25 May), Dave came 2nd in the Men’s Interstate 8 for South Australia. He also won golds in the E double scull, men’s D8 and mixed D8, as well as silver in the men’s C pair and men’s D coxed four.
