The Depot was designed to invigorate the City's West End precinct at a time when much of the Adelaide Fringe focus is at the East End of the city.

The Depot was a major installation and venue built primarily for the 2013 Adelaide Fringe Festival with the intention of becoming a long term facility.  It was located on land previously used as Adelaide's main bus station (intrastate and interstate).

The spontaneous, industrial aesthetic was created with the use of lightweight and cost effective construction materials - shipping containers and timber pallets.  Central to the design intent was the use of recycled materials coupled with public participation that saw the venue evolve throughout the Fringe Festival.

The project incorporated remnant sheds and roofs to create a variety of venues including an 800 person capacity enclosed performance space, food and beverage facilities and a major stage for outdoor performances.
